Open to performers, crew, and volunteers, the Kick-off Cookout is a welcoming social event... with food!We'll be providing food to suit a variety of dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, guten-free, etc.) but it's challenging to accommodate everyone. If you have personal needs, please feel free to bring something!
The party is at a private home on the Red line (the same train line that serves the theatre). The address and directions will be provided to all invitees.
In addition to food, there's a hot tub! If you want to use the hot tub, please bring your own towel.
The Cookout is sponsored by Viva Vermont! Burlesque, a quarterly show bringing the hottest acts in New England to the stage in Central Vermont. Hosted at the beautiful private third floor of De Mena's in downtown Montpelier, Viva Vermont showcases talent, tease and tremendous acts in a delightfully intimate setting. Founded by Bea Trouble — the Missionary of Burlesque — Viva Vermont! Burlesque aims to spread their gospel throughout New England- to all who come!

Especially in a town with competing troupes and performers who are all inviting the same people to shows and fighting over venues? In addition to her work as a performer, Tapitha Kix is a former events editor and reporter with the Baltimore Sun. She'll teach you how to write a proper press release, work with the media and find other promotion resources beyond standard social media and how you can stand out. And in a business that doesn't often talk about money -- she'll break down how she works with venues and negotiates deals to maximize the amount of money you and your performers receive.
In this class, students will learn several basic ballet movements and postures. We will then review how these techniques may be beneficial to a burlesque performer, and how they may even be incorporated into a routine. Class will begin with a brief warm-up aimed to loosen the joints and awaken the senses. This class is for those who would like to build body awareness, experiment with different types of movement, and have fun!
Perform with your entire body! This workshop highlights your lovely legs and more. Learn the secrets of the sexiest stocking peels (including which stockings to use.) Take your Burlesque to the next level - literally- with floor work and chair work. **Students: please bring thigh-high stockings or tall socks. Garter belts optional. Please bring kneepads for the floor work section of the class.**
Twerking, as it is known in the hip-hop community, is a hard-hitting, rump-shaking dance move which involves shaking one’s booty as fast as possible in different positions... DISCLAIMER: You will sweat for sure..... ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME... (Urban / strip club music)
The Mini Event is a brand-new burlesque competition from the folks who brought you, THE MAIN EVENT at The Great Burlesque Exposition. At The Mini Event the winners are selected by a panel of experts who a passionate about burlesque and personally invested in the performances -- you, the audience! Come on out and vote for categories like "Most Pants Feelings", "Greatest Googly Moogly", and "Damn. That was Awesome".
The Mini Event features performances from EGYPT BLAQUEKNYLE (2016 Best Soloist, Miss Viva Las Vegas Princess 2017; Queen of Texas 2017; 21st Century Burlesque Top 50 of 2016; and many more) and DIAMOND DEVILLE (Most Beautiful 2017) plus other invited guests.
